Contemporary
dance in Burkina Faso, as other arts such as cinema and theatre, has
become an event of a great interest at the international level and various
initiatives are carried out on behalf of the artists and the authorities
for its real development.
Since
1997, the Company Salia nï Seydou offered annual training sessions in
contemporary dance directed toward dancers and actors from Burkina Faso,
living in Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso.
After four consecutive years and with the flowering of dance companies
and interpreters involved in the movement of creative dance, the project
was polished in 2001 to take into account creations and exchanges. As
a result doors were opened to other countries within the framework of
the choreographic meetings Dialogues de corps.
